Description

Àngela Nebot holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – Barcelonatech (UPC). She is the director of the Soft Computing Research Group (SOCO) and co-founder of the Intelligent Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Centre (IDEAI) at the UPC. She is currently Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Computer Science. Her research is in the field of machine learning, specialising in fuzzy systems, neuro-fuzzy systems, fuzzy genetics and other hybrid soft computing techniques, as well as modelling for prediction and decision support. Applications include energy, medicine, biology, atmospheric sciences, risk management and e-learning.  She has published over 200 papers in international and national journals and conferences and is on the editorial board of the International Journal of General Systems and SIMULATION: Transactions of The Society for Modelling and Simulation International. She has been Principal Investigator and has participated in a large number of national and European competitive and non-competitive research projects.
