Description

Susana holds a degree in Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1996) and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Barcelona (2004). She also holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Clinical Psychology from the University of Barcelona and a degree in Market Research and Techniques from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2009).

Susana has been working at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD) since 1997 and she is the coordinator of the Research Unit of the PSSJD  since 2008. She is the co-coordinator of the group Etiopathogenesis and treatment of severe disorders, MERITT, together with Dr Judith Usall, being recognized as a consolidated group by AGAUR and co-PI of CIBERSAM’s G11 (Schizophrenia) group. Susana is a member of the SIRS and she is in the SIRS’s Diversity Committee and Program 2024. In recent years, she has achieved several projects from competitive calls aimed at evaluating the efficacy of MCT in psychosis. She is the Principal Investigator in PERMEPSY’s Coordinating Team.

The research line she coordinates aims to study schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, from the initial phases (first psychotic episodes) to more chronic stages of the disease. In recent years it has focused on the design and evaluation of effective psychological interventions for people with psychosis. The line is also interested in studying the social stigma of the illness, family impact and the validation of assessment scales, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of psychological interventions aimed at people with psychosis, considering gender as a cross-cutting aspect in its research.
